BLM Travel Management Plan (TMP)
Forty-four people attended a public meeting hosted by
the Ghost Riders at the Bouse Community Center on
February 22 to discuss the BLM TMP for the La Posa
area which includes Quartzite and the Plomosa
mountain area. A TMP is the inventory, evaluation, and
designation (open, limited, closed) of roads, trails, and
drivable desert washes for OHV use.
The maps provided by BLM, and discussed at the
meeting, are available in the community center for
review. Maps are also posted online at the Yuma BLM
Field Office website at
http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/fo/yuma_field_office.html
The official review and comment period is February 7 to
March 7, 2012, which is not enough time for public
review and comment. A sample letter requesting an
extension of the comment period and more detailed
maps is attached or can be found at
http://ghostriders.desertrail.net.
If you enjoy OHV riding and are concerned about
closures, please use the sample and mail a letter to
BLM before March 7.
